Nola Brantley:
Advocate, Survivor, Visionary
Nola Brantley is a nationally acclaimed advocate for Child Sex Trafficking in California since 2001. A multifaceted individual, Nola is a mother, activist, motivational speaker, woman of color, and survivor. Her life experiences, shaped by intergenerational poverty and trauma, inform her powerful advocacy and the diverse resources offered through Nola Brantley Speaks. Born in San Francisco, Nola faced significant challenges, including sexual abuse and exploitation. Despite these hardships, she engaged in social justice activism from a young age, finding strength in community and nature. Motherhood became a pivotal force in her healing, inspiring her to protect and empower others, particularly young girls affected by sex trafficking. In 2001, Nola began her journey in anti-trafficking work at Scotlan Center, where she developed programs for girls and young women. Witnessing the prevalence of exploitation led her to co-found MISSSEY in 2007, serving as Executive Director until 2014. Under her leadership, MISSSEY provided vital services to over 1,000 survivors and trained more than 15,000 professionals. Now, through Nola Brantley Speaks, she amplifies her voice to raise awareness about Child Sex Trafficking, Poverty, Historical Trauma and other issues affecting women and girls. Nola is striving for a world where every child experiences unconditional love and opportunity.
