“When we talk about compassion, we talk in terms of being kind. But compassion is not so much being kind; it is being creative to wake a person up.” Chögyam Trungpa. Hey Village! Meet Cheree Clark also known as Lady Ree, a superheroine Intuitive Empath. Taking long naps and enjoying leisure time enjoying the simplicities of life keeps this superwoman charged up and ready for her divine purpose. Cheree has been on a journey of self-realization and self actualization that would not only help and heal countless lives but would heal and uplift all of who she was and was to become. Since a very early age, Cheree has always known deep down that her purpose in this life is to love and help heal others. Being the eldest of three children in a single mother household, Cheree learned very early on how to be a steward over the thoughts and feelings of others. Feeling obligated to be a positive role model for her siblings and help to her mother, Cheree took seriously her education and career goals. You see not all heroes wear capes…some wear caps, gowns and tassels. Donning the latter twice in her life served as a major accomplishment for Cheree, knowing that she blazed a trail for her siblings that would ignite a path towards bright and fulfilled futures. After receiving her Bachelors in Criminal Justice Administration and Master of Social Worker Lady Ree set forth on a mission to fulfill her purpose. From 2011 to 2015, life events unfolded that aligned Cheree with a career enriching experience working as a case manager for a nonprofit called West Contra Costa Youth Services Bureau. Using resources identified through collaborative relationships with other community based organizations, client centered advocacy and therapeutic engagement strategies allowed Cheree to make real change in the outcomes for the children, youth and families that she served. Gaining more alignment with her purpose, the calling to expand on her mission became stronger. Cheree continued to align with people and experiences in her professional networks that led to and inspired her pursuit of higher education as she knew it would further her mission. Currently working for San Mateo County Children and Family Services Cheree provides thoughtful and thorough child, youth, and family investigation, assessment, and engagement services. Cheree has grown to understand, appreciate and effectively provide both child safety and strength based/trauma informed assessment of families while in this role. Cheree prides herself on providing culturally sensitive engagement, advocacy, and clinical support to enhance the overall wellbeing and stability for children, youth and families. Now having worked almost fifteen years in service to social justice, Cheree rededicates herself daily to be a voice for marginalized families and communities impacted disproportionally by systems of oppression.
