Torie Robinson (Sage Survivor Leader)
From the very beginning, Torie was born a warrior. Raised in Louisiana by a single mother with five children, her journey was marked by challenges no child should ever face. At just four years old, she endured unimaginable pain, an experience that shaped much of her early life. Seeking refuge, she spent much of her childhood with her grandmother, navigating the shadows of trauma while trying to make sense of a world that felt unkind.
For six long years, therapy became a constant in her life, yet understanding and healing felt just out of reach. The weight of her experiences led her to run away, ultimately entering the foster care system—a new battle in an already difficult war. But Torie was never one to surrender.
Through every hardship, she fought. She endured. She survived.
The birth of her second daughter became her catalyst for change. Determined to break the cycle, Torie made the courageous decision to leave home, seeking a future filled with hope, not pain. Guided by her sister, she found herself in California—a place that became the turning point in her story.
In the Golden State, Torie didn’t just find a new home—she found herself. She embarked on a deeply personal journey, forging a relationship with God and embracing the happiness that had long eluded her. She realized that her greatest power was not just in surviving, but in healing.
Today, she stands as a beacon of resilience, proving that even in the face of darkness, light is possible. Mental health and self-care are her superpowers, and she shares her story so others know: Survival is just the beginning—thriving is the true victory.
Torie is living proof that no matter where you start, a better future is always within reach. Because the Village makes it possible.
